The Manteo Wrestling Team went to Tarboro High School on Saturday to compete in the Tarboro Invitational Tournament where they finished tied for 6th place out of the 11 schools competing.
Caleb Maher 3rd at 113lbs

Coach Metzinger’s comments:
“I though we had a good day of wrestling. All of the guys that went are showing progress on the mat and they are improving each day on things that we are working on. Caleb showed a lot of heart in his match vs GCHS. He was at a physical disadvantage, but he kept fighting and late in the third period he was able to pin the guy. Emmanuel got his first pin, William won first in his division and continued to show neutral dominance and showed his ability to score by Tech Falling all of his opponents. Ryan also had a good day, he had a tough match in the finals and got in a 50-50 position and the other guy beat him to the punch and ended up losing. I am happy with the progress. Our goal is to be wrestling our best going into February, and I feel most of us are doings that.”
